Like many other CrossFitters, I identified as an athlete all my life. When my swimming career ended in college due to shoulder surgery I thought that my days as an athlete were over. Throughout physical therapy school I tried a variety of workout and nutrition plans from the traditional gym routine, insanity videos, spinning class, and even convincing myself I liked running, but none of them kept me interested.
One of my friends in PT school suggested we try these CrossFit workouts she found online, so we started doing them at our school gym. Even with the makeshift workouts we did I was hooked, so when I graduated and moved home I knew I needed to find a box to start doing this CrossFit thing. As a new physical therapist the most important thing to me was finding a gym that emphasized form and quality movement. I had plans to drop into all the local gyms in the area and try them out to make my decision. I went to Equity for my 2 free classes and never even bothered going to the other gyms. Even in those first two free classes Krista and Berek broke down each movement with me to make sure I was moving safely, and the same still holds true two years later. I couldn't be happier with the investment I've made in myself at CrossFit Equity. I've learned so much about my body, strength training and the value of good nutrition thanks to my 2 years at Equity. Even as a retired college athlete I can say I've never been more fit in my life than I am right now. But it's not just my strength and progress that make me love being a part of Equity. Equity has become more than a gym to me - it's a place I've brought my family and friends to better their lives, and a place where I've made lasting friendships within an amazing community.

I discovered CrossFit in March of 2013. I have a running background and was looking for a workout with more variety (and honestly, a little more fun). I e-mailed CrossFit Equity and gave them plenty of reasons why CrossFit wasn't for me (female – 47 years old – not very strong etc…..) but was pleasantly surprised when I was invited to come try it out. I survived my first workout and even enjoyed it. I love the intensity, the variety, and the coaches who work so hard to make everyone feel like they are part of the team and capable of so much more than we think we are. I’ve had my personal struggles but I have finally learned to listen to my body and how to walk that line between too much and not enough – thanks again to very patient coaching! Happy to have CFE in my life!

As a division one college dual sport athlete and someone who works out constantly I held off for a long time on trying CrossFit figuring why pay someone else to train me when I can just do it pretty well myself. I decided to give it try after talking to a friend of mine who works in the personal training field and educated me more on how much fun Olympic lifting is and how great it can be for enhancing power and quickness. I was hooked after my first class with CrossFit Equity. As someone who likes to be pushed to the limit, equity did not disappoint. That being said, they accommodate to athletes of all skill levels and break down movements step by step for us. Berek and Krista are excellent at what they do and I go into the gym excited to learn new things and see what kind of progress they have helped me to make each week. I went from not being able to do a pull up at all to being able to do a full strict pull up in about 4 weeks going to equity only 3 days a week. That kind of progress doesn't lie. Not only that but I go in and leave with a smile on my face every workout and have made new friends as well. I LOVE CrossFit Equity and would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone who's interested. #redbeardresults

I joined CrossFit Equity a year ago, after getting bored with my gym routine, and losing my motivation to work out. I'd been on the fence about joining CrossFit but I liked the idea that it challenges you to find your limits, then strive to exceed them, and is never repetitive. But I also knew running is pretty big part of it, and I haaaate running. However, the gym was no longer working for me, and I wasn't making progress. After looking around, I settled on CrossFit Equity, largely because of the coaching staff. They immediately struck me as great people, who are not only knowledgeable about proper form and technique, but enthusiastic about CrossFit and really loving what they do, as a result their enthusiasm is infectious. You see that same enthusiasm in every member of the box. The Equity community, has a great sense of family, we don’t just work out together, we hang out, celebrate and support one another both in and out of the box.

I can remember seeing CrossFit for the first time watching a competition that Berek was in and I
remember saying to my husband “I would never ever be able to do something like that”. Wrong.
Berek, Krista and the rest of the CrossFit community proved me wrong. I have even participated in two CrossFit competitions. When I started CrossFit in September of 2012, every movement I
made was hysterical. I couldn't even do a squat. I'm not saying my movements are perfect but at
least now I can do them (well most of them anyway). That's the thing with CrossFit, there can be
modification in everything you do, if that is what is needed in your individual circumstance.
CrossFit allowed me to make a lifestyle change that I never thought would happen. On a personal note my blood work has been the best it has ever been (according to the doc), my cholesterol is lower, I am no longer on the borderline of being a diabetic, my monthly visits to the chiropractor have stopped, I lost 16 pounds dropping two sizes and trust me I am not starving myself or working out every day of the week. I could go on and on about all the good things it has done for me but in a nutshell it has shown me the importance of good nutrition and exercise in any lifestyle. CrossFit is not just about exercise either. I cannot leave out how many wonderful new people I have met in the process as well. Truly a program that has helped me feel better about myself and glad I became a part of. And oh yeah, I love the new Yoga program as well. Thanks guys for helping me have a healthier lifestyle.

When started CrossFit I thought I was in good shape. I was a in the gym lifting weights 5 days a week and thought I was pretty strong. My very first CrossFit class at Equity proved me wrong. I couldn't even run 400 meters without being out of breath. I was 220 lbs and using an inhaler, within 6 months I had lost weight and was down to 170 lbs and was stronger than ever and no inhaler. The coaches at Equity really care about what they teach and it shows in their students. I know personally I never would have thought that I would be able to do half the things I'm capable of doing now especially the Olympic lifts. At Equity it's not all about working out it's about bringing a community together, a sense of family, and making them the best they can be. The coaches are great and I can't thank them enough!
