Below are a few questions to help everybody learn a little bit about Tammie.
Question) Tell use a little about yourself?
Answer) I am 49 years old with 5 great kids, 2 beautiful grand children, and 1 great son-in-law. I work full time at Nemours Childrens Hospital. I have a cleaning business part time. I am divorced for 3 years and I am in the best shape of my life both mentally and physically. Life is good.
Q) When and how did you start CrossFit?
A) I started CrossFit 4 years ago this September with my daughter Kirsten. She invited me to try it and I loved it.
Q) With your busy schedule how do you make time for the gym?
A) I always make time for fitness, it's important. It makes me a better mom. My kids know and respect that I have always worked out. I have taught my kids how important it is to take care of themselves, as well as it is important for me to take care of myself.
Q) How do you make time to eat right?
A) I food prep on Sundays and try to pack healthy snacks in my purse when I don't have time to eat. Eating the right food is important to me and the life style I live.
Q) What keeps you motivated to keep coming back to the gym?
A) I love setting goals and working hard to meet them. I believe you can't achieve them if you don't put the work in. I feel that everyone there is trying to make themselves better and that is the drive that keeps me coming back. Everyone loves a PR.
Q) Have you achieved any short or long term goals since starting at the gym (fitness and/or life goals)?
A) I feel that CrossFit has given me strength in so many ways, just not physical but mentally as well. I have been through a lot in these last 4 years and I have come out a better person because of the community and the camaraderie of the box. I have hit some Pr's as of late that I am very proud of but know the real importance is the personal development I have made with the group as a whole. Once again as I always say, "life is not about winning or having Pr's its about failing and picking up and trying again and again that's what makes you strong."
Q) Do you have any current goals?
A) I have many goals within CrossFit. I would love to workout forever and not be injured that's my first goal. I would love to be able to Snatch correctly and not move my elbows down when I push anything over my head. I hope by the time I am 60 I learn double under's. I know all that will come because I will continue to put the work in.
Q) When is your favorite time to workout?
A) My favorite time to workout is 4:30 p.m. I love coming after work and getting it done.
Q) What is your favorite movement and workout?
A) My favorite movement is the over head squat. I like all strength movements.
Q) What is your least favorite movement and workout?
A) The only movement that I don't really care for is the thruster. I do stay away from wods with that movement in it.
Q) Anything you would like to add?
A) I want to thank everyone at Equity for there continued support and laughter, that's why I come everyday. I love seeing everyone and knowing that I am a part of a great community.
